About Us

Volunteer at Redwood Empire Food Bank

Volunteers needed. Help us end hunger in our community.

Last year we served 1 in 6 people in Sonoma, Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino, and Lake counties through our three Hunger Initiatives.

The Redwood Empire Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization serving north coastal California from Sonoma County to the Oregon border. Since 1987, the Redwood Empire Food Bank has been helping our community through 11 innovative programs under three strategic initiatives – Every Child, Every Day, Senior Security and the Neighborhood Hunger Network. We respond to the immediate needs of people seeking help through the provision of healthy food and nutrition education. We pursue long-term solutions to food insecurity through public policy and the development of partnerships with civic, faith-based, corporate and government organizations and, most importantly, individuals in our community.

We Can’t Do It Without You

Volunteers are critical to ending hunger in our community. Every month we rely on their generous support, which would otherwise require the work of 45 full-time staff members.

Spend a two or three-hour shift helping glean produce, pack emergency boxes, and distribute food. Please know everyone's safety is our priority and we're taking all CDC recommended precautions. Volunteers are outdoors, required to wear masks and gloves, spaced at least 6ft apart, and provided hand sanitizer.

**In light of the COVID-19 crisis, we will not be allowing volunteers inside our facility at 3990 Brickway Blvd. Instead, there will be a tent set up outside our building where volunteers will be limited and spaced 6 feet apart.

Warehouse Shifts: Children between the ages of 10 and 13 are welcome to volunteer as long as they are accompanied by an adult at all times. Children 14 years of age and older can volunteer independently.
