This role is a critical member to our Operations Management team and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of product quality and safety by ensuring that all production equipment, structural and storage facilities, offices, restrooms, resting areas, parking lots, depots, and transportation equipment are in compliance with Sanitary, GMP's (Good Manufacturing Processes), Federal, State and local food protection standards, and Company programs. Has direct responsibility for ensuring all work activities under its span of control are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements and a focus on continuous process improvement. *Schedule is to lead the graveyard shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00pm to 4:00am, or as needed during the week.

WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS:


• Partner with department managers to establish production and quality control standards for food safety and Sanitation
• Implements and maintains food safety and Sanitation industry standard
• Ensures that employees and managers have the required food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety training
• Responsible for operations that comply with federal, state, local, and/or company Sanitation and Food Safety policies and regulations
• Prepares all required reports and correspondence
• Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement
• Maintains up-to-date status on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions
• Inspects products and equipment for conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards
• Prepares and works within approved budget
• Leads all action that involves or encompasses third party food safety agencies
• Confers with management and production personnel on sanitation, quality and HACCP issues, and recommend changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards and purity of products
• Compiles required reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations and steps taken to resolve deficiencies according to third party food safety agencies standards
• Ensures GMP's are always met,
• Prepares and coordinates annual chemical training program and SSOP training for Sanitation team members
• Inspects premises for unsanitary practices and conditions
• Participates as needed in monthly food safety inspections and creates corrective action plan
• Directly supervises Sanitation Lead(s); carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
• Complies with pre-operation inspection guidelines
• Supervisory responsibilities include: training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
• Coordinates Company Master Cleaning Schedule activities
• Full participation during food safety audits
• Comply with Gluten Free and Allergen programs
• Performs other duties as assigned by manager

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR (QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED):

• Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent preferred
• Two to four years related experience or equivalent in manufacturing environment (food industry preferred)
• Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates
• Commitment to excellence and high standards
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Basic competence in subordinates' duties and tasks
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
• Strong interpersonal skills - ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
• Proficient on Microsoft Office applications and software programs used in the workplace
• Proven leadership and business acumen skills
• Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
• Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
• Bilingual in Spanish highly desired
• Understand any and all safety requirements and cautions
• Prompt and regular attendance is required onsite for all shifts; ability to plug in remotely from home as needed
